Monopoly

Monopoly is a game in which districts are bought and sold with money and mortgaged; investments, for example in hotels and residences, can be made in these districts. It is also possible to earn or lose money and also go to jail with a chance card. The person who buys everything will be: a Monopoly. However, in real life the game does not end here; a new order begins in just one person’s hands. The photos I took for the Monopoly series in Mikrotopya were being exhibited in the 1st floor of the building. The building was demolished on January 24, 2021. Mikrotopya was an exhibition that takes place in a 35-year-old 4-storey apartment that has already been under urban transformation in Feneryolu, one of the districts where the traces of urban transformation are quite noticeable. Artworks created for Mikrotopya are unique to this building or have been produced from the leftover materials inside the building. While walking around there, I saw Monopoly cards that reminded me of the games part I used to play enthusiastically with my childhood friends. These cards were very familiar to me, just like the other forgotten items in the building but they were not trying hard to tell me something.
